A Chartered Electrical Engineer with more than 30yrs railway experience at the senior and executive management levels with British Railways in the design, engineering, application, maintenance and Project management of Signalling and Telecommunications systems.

Activities have included project management of multi-functional development projects of both the technical led and the operational led varieties in both the UK and with the EC in Europe .

Safety Management is a key element of such work and the experience gained in this area has been utilised, not only as an integral part of the projects, but also in the development of Railway Safety Standards and the preparation of EuroNorms.

•  Consultant Systems Engineer on the West Coast Resignalling project providing Systems Engineering support on formal requirements  management.

•  Consultant Safety Manager Systems Engineering Group working on the Thameslink 2000 project.

•  UKAS Technical Specialist for the assessment of Notified Bodies for the harmonisation of the trans-European high speed rail system (Command, Control and Signalling aspects).

•  Managing the testing and evaluation programme of the European APOLO Project.

•  Project Manager for the European Interoperability Project HEROE.

•  Quality, Safety and Technical Manager for WCML Development System Design.

•  Technical specialist on CENELEC working Groups.

•  Member of BSI UK Management Team for CENELEC.

•  Safety Standards Manager British Railways Board.
